    In the actual spray process, the size of the spray particles is not uniform, and various sizes of oil particles are mixed together. The ultimate purpose of atomization is to increase the surface area of the fuel.

    Distribution of fuel oil particles. No matter how well the fuel is atomized into the combustion chamber, if there is no oil particle to reach some areas when the mixture is formed in the combustion chamber, the air there can not be used for combustion at all. On the contrary, if some areas are dense with oil particles, incomplete combustion will be generated due to insufficient air. Therefore, the fuel spray should spread throughout the combustion chamber space. The oil particle distribution is shown in the spray Angle θN in Figure 3.

    Penetration force of fuel oil particles. If the fuel particles from the injector are stationary, they will be surrounded by gas and cannot be burned. Therefore, fuel oil particles must have the ability to continue to move before the end of combustion, which is called penetration force. However, in a narrow combustion chamber, if the penetration force is too large, the fuel particles will adhere to the wall of the combustion chamber, which will lead to incomplete combustion. Therefore, the penetration force must match the shape of the combustion chamber and the strength of the vortex and squeeze flow.
