Research on Influence of Injector Hole Carbon Deposition on Diesel Engine Injection Pressure
During the use of diesel engines, the problem of carbon deposits in the nozzle holes of the fuel injectors also occurs. After the needle valve is closed, the residual fuel oil inside the injection hole forms a thin oil film, which is easily cracked by the high temperature and high pressure environment and generates carbon deposits. After the carbon deposits are generated, they accumulate in the interior and exit of the nozzle holes, changing the original nozzle hole structure, affecting the normal flow of diesel oil, interfering with the spray development mode, and greatly affecting the spray and combustion characteristics of diesel engines. Studies abroad have shown that after carbon deposits in the nozzle holes of the injector, the fuel injection volume decreases, the spray quality decreases, the combustion efficiency decreases, and NO. emissions increase. The test by Birgel et al. on a single-cylinder engine bench shows that after carbon deposits in the injection holes, the average indicated pressure in the cylinder drops by a maximum of 12.2%. Tests by Kumagai et al. on a 4-cylinder engine bench showed that the engine torque decreased by 9% after carbon deposition in the injection holes.
The fuel injection system is one of the most important parts of the engine, and it is the heart of the entire engine. Its injection characteristics directly affect the formation of the mixture in the cylinder and the combustion quality7. Foreign countries have done some work on the influence of injector carbon deposition on spray and combustion, but there are few studies on the influence on injection pressure. In this paper, using the fuel injection pump test bench, the new fuel injector and the carbon-deposited fuel injector were used to carry out the fuel injection test, and the influence of the carbon deposit in the nozzle hole of the injector on the fuel injection pressure of the diesel engine was analyzed. and the influence of combustion characteristics.
