Basic Information about Fuel Injection Pump
Role: The fuel injection pump is the most important part in the diesel supply system and is called the "heart" of the diesel engine.
Function: According to the load of the diesel engine, deliver high-pressure diesel to the injector regularly and quantitatively. The most commonly used diesel engine type is: plunger fuel injection pump.
Components: The plunger fuel injection pump consists of the following components: fuel tank, fuel transfer pump, low-pressure fuel pipe, fuel filter, fuel injection pump, high-pressure fuel pipe, fuel injector and return pipe, etc.
Operation process: The fuel in the fuel tank is sent to the fuel injection pump through the fuel filter at a certain pressure (0.15~0.4MPa) by a fuel transfer pump. The high-pressure fuel output from the fuel injection pump enters the fuel injector through the high-pressure oil pipe and is injected into the combustion chamber. Since the fuel supply volume of the fuel transfer pump is 3-8 times greater than that of the fuel injection pump, the excess fuel returns to the fuel tank through the relief valve installed on the filter (which also controls the fuel delivery pressure). If the relief valve is arranged outside the oil inlet chamber of the fuel injection pump, all the fuel will flow through the oil inlet chamber of the fuel injection pump, and the cooling effect is better. However, at the same time, the filter also needs to pass all the fuel, so sometimes the size must be increased. The fuel leaking from the injector returns to the fuel tank through the fuel return pipe (it can also be connected to the fuel return main pipe). It is never allowed to connect the return pipe of the injector to a pipe with a certain pressure, such as the pipe from the oil pump to the filter. It is best to connect the oil pipes of all injectors to a separate unpressurized oil return pipe to flow back to the tank. Some diesel engines have a device that enables the entire oil system to automatically remove air. That is, there must be a height difference in the pipe from the filter to the fuel injection pump to ensure that the air and fuel vapor bubbles in the pipe can rise to the top of the filter. From there it flows through the overflow pipe to the fuel tank.
