      3 Spray particle size The spray particle size is affected by many factors. The research shows that the influence of parameters such as fuel injection pressure, back pressure and nozzle hole diameter is more obvious. In general, increasing the injection pressure (increasing the initial velocity of the oil particles), reducing the diameter of the nozzle hole, and increasing the air density (increasing the back pressure) will all make the diameter of the oil particles smaller. In addition, reducing the viscosity and surface tension of fuel can also reduce the diameter of oil particles.
      The smaller the oil particle, the larger the contact area with the surrounding air, and the faster the heat absorption and gasification process, which has an important impact on the position of the ignition point and the law of combustion and heat release. The evaluation indicators of spray particle size are: average particle size, Sauter average particle size, and particle size distribution. The average particle size is the arithmetic mean of all oil particle diameters. The Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) is the ratio of the total volume to the total surface area of all oil particles. When the circulating oil supply is the same, if the SMD is the same, then the total surface area is the same, which means that the gasification rate and chemical reaction rate are basically the same. Therefore, the most common particle size evaluation index in the engine is the Sauter diameter. Generally, the particle size of diesel spray is 10~50um, and that of SMD is 20~40um.
