Fuel Injector: The "Precision Valve" of Engine Fuel System
The fuel injector is a core component of the internal combustion engine fuel supply system, undertaking the key task of precisely controlling fuel injection quantity, injection pressure and injection timing, which directly determines the engine's power performance, fuel economy and emission level.
In terms of working principle, the fuel injector receives electrical signal instructions from the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and uses the expansion and contraction of electromagnetic coils or piezoelectric crystals to drive the needle valve to open or close. When the needle valve lifts, high-pressure fuel is atomized into fine droplets through the injection holes, fully mixing with the air in the intake manifold or cylinder, laying a foundation for efficient combustion.
Different types of engines are equipped with different fuel injectors. Gasoline engines usually use multi-point electronic injection injectors installed in the intake manifold; diesel engines mostly adopt high-pressure common rail injectors, which can withstand the impact of ultra-high-pressure fuel and meet the stringent requirements of compression ignition combustion.
In daily use, fuel injectors are prone to clogging of injection holes due to fuel impurities and carbon deposits, resulting in reduced atomization effect, which causes problems such as unstable engine idling and increased fuel consumption. Therefore, regular cleaning of fuel injectors and use of qualified fuel are important guarantees for maintaining good engine operating conditions.
With the upgrading of energy conservation and emission reduction needs, fuel injectors are developing towards higher injection pressure and more precise control accuracy, helping the internal combustion engine technology achieve sustainable upgrading in the new energy era.
