The Basic Method of Fault Diagnosis of Electronically Controlled Diesel Engine

Basic methods for fault diagnosis of electronically controlled diesel engines The basic methods for fault diagnosis of electronically controlled diesel engines include visual diagnosis method, cylinder disconnection method, comparison method, fault indicator method and special diagnostic instrument method.
1 visual diagnosis method. Intuitive diagnosis is a diagnostic method that uses the human sensory organs to observe, listen, test, smell, etc., the phenomenon of automobile failure, understand and master the characteristics of the failure phenomenon, and then analyze and judge through the human brain to draw conclusions. This diagnostic method is characterized by simple diagnostic method and low equipment cost. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of electronic control systems and electrical devices. Therefore, this diagnostic method can be used for in-depth diagnosis of faults, but has higher requirements for operators. When using a simple instrument for diagnosis, the operator must have a detailed understanding of the system structure and line connections in order to obtain satisfactory diagnostic results.
2 broken cylinder method. As the name implies, it is to stop a certain cylinder from working, so as to judge whether the fault occurs in this cylinder. The method of cutting off the cylinder generally stops the oil supply to the cylinder suspected of being faulty, and compares the state changes (such as the speed) of the engine before and after the cylinder is cut off, so as to further find the fault. Location, cause, narrowing the scope of inspection.
3 comparison method. Replace certain assemblies or components to determine if there is a malfunction. The faults in the electrical system of the electronically controlled engine are usually caused by poor contact of wiring and connectors. At this time, it may take a lot of time to find out the specific cause of the fault. In the actual maintenance process, in order to quickly solve the problem and troubleshoot, it is generally replaced with new parts, which can solve the problem in the fastest way. Compared with other methods, this method is more practical and effective, especially suitable for occasions with complete accessories
4 fault indicator light (or screen indication) method. When the vehicle fails, you can read the fault code (commonly known as the flash code) through the fault indicator light on the dashboard of the vehicle, and refer to the fault code table to preliminarily judge the cause of the fault. There is a fault indication function on the display, which directly displays the fault code or fault range.
5 special diagnostic instrument method. Further fault diagnosis can be carried out with a special fault diagnosis instrument. Using a special diagnostic instrument can greatly improve the diagnostic efficiency of the electronic control system. However, due to the high cost of special diagnostic instruments, various electronic control unit diagnostic instruments are generally suitable for professional fault diagnosis and repair manufacturers.
