The SCV valve, or fuel metering valve, plays a key role in the diesel engine fuel system, mainly including the following aspects:

Precisely control the fuel flow: It accurately controls the fuel flow entering the high-pressure fuel pump according to the instructions issued by the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU will integrate multiple signals such as engine speed, water temperature, common rail pressure, and intake pressure to calculate the required amount of fuel, and then send the corresponding command current to the SCV valve to accurately adjust the amount of fuel entering the high-pressure fuel pump by changing the valve opening, thereby meeting the fuel demand of the engine under different working conditions.

Regulate fuel pressure: By controlling the amount of fuel entering the high-pressure fuel pump, the SCV valve indirectly regulates the pressure of the fuel system to ensure that the fuel pressure in the common rail remains within the appropriate range. For example, when the engine is running at high load, a higher fuel pressure is required to ensure sufficient fuel injection. The SCV valve will increase the fuel flow and increase the common rail pressure; while at low load or idling, the fuel flow is reduced and the common rail pressure is reduced to achieve dynamic regulation of the fuel system pressure.

Controlling engine speed and power: Since fuel flow and pressure directly affect the combustion process of the engine, the SCV valve can effectively adjust the engine speed and power by precisely controlling the fuel supply. When the engine power needs to be increased, the SCV valve will allow more fuel to enter the high-pressure fuel pump, allowing the engine to output more power; conversely, when the power needs to be reduced, the fuel supply is reduced, thereby achieving precise control of the engine speed and power to adapt to different working conditions and load requirements.
