On May 5, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference to introduce the economic and trade cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries and the 3rd China-CEEC Expo and International Consumer Goods Expo.
Vice Minister of Commerce Li Fei introduced that the 3rd China-CEEC Expo and International Consumer Goods Expo will be held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province from May 16 to 20, with the theme of “Deepening Pragmatic Cooperation and Working Together for the Future”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province.
“Successfully running this expo is of great significance to deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.” Li Fei said that the Ministry of Commerce will thoroughly implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, continue to strengthen communication and coordination with Central and Eastern European countries, Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City, strengthen the division of labor and cooperation, optimize the activity plan, and strive to make this CEEC Expo a high-standard, high-quality and high-level economic and trade event, create a main platform for displaying Central and Eastern European characteristic products, expand imports from Central and Eastern Europe, and promote the high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
Lu Shan, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province, introduced that Hungary is the guest of honor and Jiangsu Province is the theme province. As of the 5th, officials of the embassies and consulates of 7 Central and Eastern European countries and 13 Central and Eastern European countries in China have expressed their intention to attend. More than 20 brother provinces and cities in China will send representatives to participate in the expo.
This year’s expo takes economic and trade activities as the main line, and arranges activities in various fields such as science and technology, tourism and health, with a total of 27 important activities. Among these 27 important activities, there are 7 institutional activities hosted by national ministries and commissions, such as the Ministry of Commerce and CCPIT, and a series of cooperation results will also be released through this expo.
In terms of exhibition, the exhibition has three exhibition areas: Central and Eastern European Exhibition, International Consumer Goods Exhibition and Central and Eastern European Commodities Annual Exhibition, with an exhibition area of 220,000 square meters.
Lu Shan concluded that the expo has three firsts: the first time to open a new venue, the first to adopt the form of a professional exhibition, and the first to open a service trade exhibition area. At the same time, it will also make every effort to promote the implementation of the import target proposed by the China-CEEC Leaders’ Summit.
Talking about what new features and highlights this expo has compared with the previous one, Lu Shan said that in addition to the three firsts, there are also three characteristics:
——In-depth cooperation. First, China has signed cooperation agreements with official institutions and business associations of Central and Eastern European countries, and the number of regular cooperation mechanisms has increased; Second, in addition to economic and trade activities, cooperation in various fields has also deepened; Third, in addition to Central and Eastern European countries, some goods from European countries such as Germany, Italy, and France are also displayed.
——The scale has reached a new high. There were about 3,000 exhibitors at this year’s CEE Expo, an increase of 30% over the second edition. 2,030 CEE buyers have been registered so far, and the number of participants is expected to exceed 100,000. During the Expo, e-commerce platforms such as large-scale supermarkets and independent stations of Central and Eastern European commodities will be organized to carry out themed promotional activities to release consumption potential.
——More eye-catching in exhibits and goods. The fair adopted a variety of display formats, with 14 EU GI products unveiled for the first time. At the same time, during the Expo, the customs departments of China and some Eastern European countries will also sign a number of access agreements to further expand the categories of agricultural and food exports to China in Central and Eastern Europe.
