Market background

In 2017, the automotive aftermarket sales reached $12 billion, and the total number of aftermarket outlets was estimated to reach 50,000. Aftermarket parts sales share: 22% tires; 7% engine oil lubricant coolant; 5% car cleaner; 5% battery, 4% brake system parts; 2% electrical parts/lighting; 55% others.

By 2022, the Middle East automotive aftermarket is expected to reach $16 billion, and the vehicle sector sales share: commercial vehicles 89%, passenger cars 11%.

The survey results on the vision of the Middle East automotive aftermarket in 2025: 51% expect to make major changes to their business within five years, 46% believe that the regional automotive aftermarket will change in the next five years due to technological changes, and 37% believe that new technologies related to electric, hybrid and autonomous mobility will bring considerable new business opportunities to the region.

The development of the automobile market and the automobile aftermarket in the Middle East is unstoppable. In addition to the high consumption level and other reasons, there is a very important factor – the public transportation in the Middle East countries, especially the Gulf countries, is not well developed. For automobiles, there is no competition from rail transportation.

Dubai’s automobile aftermarket radiates to the Far East, South Asia, Africa and other Gulf countries. The amount of Dubai’s automobile aftermarket alone reaches 3 billion to 4 billion dirhams a year, a large part of which is re-export trade, which further confirms Dubai’s central position as a re-export trade port radiating the Middle East.
