A treasure market with great potential
Central Asia, as a must-pass place on the ancient Silk Road, is now an important partner in the construction of the “Belt and Road”. Located at the intersection of Asia, Europe and the Middle East, it has particularly outstanding strategic value. It is an important transit station for international trade and has promoted trade exchanges and interconnection between Asian and European countries. In recent years, Central Asian countries have actively introduced policies and measures to boost the economy and cultivate new economic growth points, becoming a highly anticipated emerging potential market and a popular new target for Chinese companies to go overseas.
Uzbekistan is located in the hinterland of Central Asia. It is a strategic economic hub connecting the east, west, south and north. It is the only country in Central Asia that borders all other Central Asian countries and has great potential for developing transit transportation. In addition, Uzbekistan is one of the fastest growing economies in Central Asia. The annual GDP growth rate has remained at a high level in the past five years. It is also the most populous and densely populated country in Central Asia, with the best population conditions and population age structure conducive to economic development. In recent years, China-Uzbekistan bilateral relations have achieved leapfrog development, the relationship between the two countries has reached the best period in history, and the bilateral trade volume has continued to rise. In 2023, the bilateral trade volume between China and Uzbekistan successfully exceeded the 10 billion US dollar mark, reaching 14.033 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 44.9%. China has become Uzbekistan’s largest trading partner.
